So, i haven't sleep for 2 days, because i'm now busy testing the new LTE towers here in my town. That means constant browsing for hours using different LTE capable devices, and use an app to see the signal stability. And i'm now thinking a very stupid idea..

Kinja'd!!!

In my country, Mercedes CLS500 like mine sold for 75-80k, which is a lot. And i'm now thinking to bought some kind of used cars outside Indonesia and then import them here. And inspired by doug's post, i'm off to see carmax and i found this:

Kinja'd!!!

a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

Because There's no S-Class AMG ever sold in here except you import one of those by themselves, i'm now thinking to getting one of those and sell my CLS. How hard can it be?
Plus, when it's starts breaking down i can sell it for profit, because S-Class AMG is such a rare beast in here.
Or maybe i just need some sleep..

I think you need sleep. But that is an awesome S-Class. What's better than the 6.2L V8? How much does it cost to import a car like that?

Well, in here because the car have an engine that bigger than 4L, it got free import tax (all hail my jalop president!)

So all i need to pay to make it street legal is the shipping fee+VAT, about 10%.

Weird, huh?

You may need sleep.

Or, some of our greatest ideas come to us as we're falling asleep.

So...

or is it?

Well, i has a sad about that cosmo.

The apex seals blows when i'm taking that thing home. That's why i never post anything again about her, she's now just sat in my garage, waiting for new seals :(

Hmmm, I'd like to hear a bit more about your problems and plans with it, I'm actually currently in the middle of a rebuild on a 13B.

Well, when i took the car from the previous owner, it's running very nicely.
Because it's quite a long drive between my house and the seller's house, about 35 miles, i decide to try the car's speed at local highway and push the car quite hard. And the car responded very nicely at first, i even manage to sprint all the way to 100mph.

Until suddenly somehow the car lost some power, and start making funny noise. And then when i'm arrived at the toll booth and wait in line, the car stalls. And i feel like "I think something is just broken" . And now it's very hard to start and hard to keep the car idling. So i think the apex seals is gone.

I'd check just about everything else before resigning to a rebuild... but the good news is that a rebuild isn't really hard as long as you take your time and make sure everything is toleranced out properly.

Well, i have no time for it now..
Maybe next month. God i love the sound of the rotary!

*Altough i'm now thinking another stupid idea of dumping one of those Renesis to the cosmo..

Well if you have any questions on what to get or how it all happens just let me know. I'm sorry to say that more goes into a proper rebuild than just new apex seals though.

The renesis is a great motor especially if you don't plan to do too much modification to it, but the 13b in the Cosmo is essentially the same and any gains will be minimal.

I have bad news.

According to the official Indonesian Customs page, the full 10-digit HS tariff line for that car is 8703245910 (Sedan/station wagon,>3000 cc,not 4 WD, not ckd, intern combust recipro pist eng). That has a duty of 40%.

(For those who care: CKD means "completely knocked down", which is tradespeak for "shipped complete, but in parts".)

Well, but we have free import tax for every single car that comes from Japan, as long as it's having bigger engines than 3L.
Or we can simply mark the car as a "Duty Vehicles"

My friend import an E46 M3 by marking it as duty vehicles, and because the goverment thinks E46 M3 is some kind of pickup or so, it got free import tax.

That's the loophole that i'll be using.
